Nancy & Steve

The Sanders Boys

The Sanders Family Foundation was birthed out of a desire to have a family known for their love, respect, and hard work.

Stephen (Steve) and Nancy Sanders know that these core values are big - in particular, ‘love’ is a big word, an action word, a word that takes a lifetime to begin to comprehend, let alone to act upon. From it stems the ability to respect and to work hard (How can you respect yourself and others without love? Why should you work hard for anyone but yourself without love?). It requires self-sacrifice, daily habits of choosing to care for those around you, and a commitment to keep being kind when the world is harsh and unforgiving. As Christians, Steve and Nancy believe that we are each called to love God and love people. [Matthew 22:37-40]

“37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”” -Matthew 22:37-40

This is no small call. We can each, on our own, try our best to fulfill this tall order. How much better, though, if we walk together in this?

As parents of five precocious boys, Steve and Nancy decided early on that would need to find creative and innovative ways to teach their boys about the values they cared about most.

Since each one of their boys is equipped with unique giftings and passions, they decided that the best way to encourage them to grow in love, respect, and hard work ethics was to give them a sandbox within which to create philanthropic ventures and projects in order to care for the people around them in the way that mattered the most to each of them.

Active members in the lives of each of their sons and their sons’ growing families, Steve and Nancy are excited to see where the Lord brings each one as they grow into the men He has called them to be.

Steve and Nancy have ways that they personally hope the world changes in order to better reflect such a vision.

Steve hopes for a world in which governments begin using Bitcoin as their primary currency because the transparency and limited nature of Bitcoin encourages just choices that are beneficial to society in a way that FIAT money cannot since it is able to be printed on a whim.

Nancy dreams of a kinder world where the concept of narcissism is forgotten, and everyone grows up knowing they are loved and respected. In this world, people treat each other with genuine care, focusing on personal responsibility and mutual support. Kids are raised to value themselves and others, building strong connections that create a peaceful, thriving society.

In the end though, they believe that dreams like these begin in the family. From there, they trickle out naturally into the community. Every large action we take stems from a small choice, a choice that can turn into a habit, a habit that can form our character, character that can shape our communities. Their hope is that their sons, their sons wives, and their grandchildren will be known in the way that Jesus spoke about in John 13:35, “… by their love.”

34 A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” - John 13:34-35

This foundation and the impact made by this family will be shaped by the fruits of that dream. Initiatives and impacts made will be philanthropic and charitable in nature as a way to continue the discipline of love through wise financial stewardship.
